Statement by the Walailak University Student Organization Administration

Subject: Renaming of Color House Teams and Organization of the Color House Assembly for the Academic Year 2025 (B.E. 2568)

 In accordance with the actions taken by the Walailak University Student Organization Administration for the academic year 2024 (B.E. 2567), new academic school groupings were established for organizing university-wide activities such as color sports competitions and recreational events. Six color house teams were formed, namely: Red, Green, Blue, Pink, Yellow, and White. These arrangements were the result of meetings and resolutions made by the Student Organization Administration in conjunction with representatives from each color house team, to ensure balanced membership and effective joint activity organization.

However, the current names of the six color house teams are still based on basic color names, which may lack uniqueness, creativity, and the ability to clearly reflect the identity of each student group. Therefore, the Student Organization Administration for the academic year 2025 (B.E. 2568) deems it appropriate to allow for consideration of renaming the color house teams. A student voting period will be held from June 1st to June 20th, 2025, closing at 12:00 PM on June 20th, 2025.

If the vote results in a resolution in favor of renaming the color house teams, the administration will hold a “Color House Assembly” on June 21st, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM. The assembly will include representatives from each color house team: the team president, vice president, sports coordinator, parade coordinator, cheerleading coordinator, baton twirling coordinator, cheer stand coordinator, and a liaison officer, along with one student representative from each academic school. The assembly will discuss guidelines for implementing the new team names for the upcoming “Pradu Games” sports festival, scheduled from January 11th to 25th, 2026.

If the decision is made to change the names, it must follow two conditions:

Condition 1: Each color house team must propose and select its own name, which may be based on internal member submissions between June 1st and June 15th, 2025.

Condition 2: Any color house team that chooses not to propose its own name and instead requests the Student Organization Administration to do so will forfeit the right to vote on any naming issues.

The final selection of new names will be determined through a university-wide student vote on June 21st, 2025. All students will have an equal right to vote on the proposed names submitted by their respective color house teams, as per Condition 1. The purpose of this process is to promote student participation in defining their own group identity, ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability. The outcome of this vote will be considered final and binding for the official naming of the color house teams.

The official announcement of the new team names will follow, allowing all stakeholders to proceed with clarity under the new names in preparation for the “Pradu Games” of academic year 2025.

If the voting outcome results in a resolution against renaming, the existing color house names will remain in use, which are:

• Pink: Noppasoon Sirichai
• White: Kritsanai Sawetsila
• Yellow: Chantra Chaysang
• Green: Prai Phlang Jamroon
• Red: Soon Songla
• Blue: Naphakad Samdang

In such a case, there will be no changes to the color house names, and they will continue to be used in all contexts. Furthermore, no color house assembly will be held on June 21st, 2025.

The Walailak University Student Organization Administration would like to emphasize that this process is being conducted to promote student involvement, respect diverse viewpoints, and uphold democratic principles, thereby contributing to the future development of meaningful and inclusive student activities.
